TEAM MEMBER (General Guidelines)

  • As a team member, you must show a sense of activeness and enthusiasm to engage with different kinds of content and responsibilities.
  • We understand that a day looks different for everyone, hence we offer flexibility. Your willingness and interest matters. 
  • You must provide ideas for the growth of the zine, regardless of your specific role.
  • There is a possibility for work of a different role to be delegated to you. You are allowed to take up certain tasks of another role/individual if the other member is unavailable and you have the bandwidth to work on it.
  • Acknowledge information, notices and updates shared by the Founder.
  • Regularity, responsibility, accountability, adherence to set policies and more are part and parcel of becoming a team member.
  • Since we are new, openness to possible changes in documentation and responsibilities is an essential quality we are looking for!

EDITOR (open to internship and training)

  • As the editor, you must review, edit (grammar, vocabulary and line corrections, proofread, keep an eye for detail, check for plagiarism, maintain the essence of the writer’s words), provide feedback, discuss possible loopholes and queries with the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Your decision will narrow down submissions and content published for Main Issue submissions, General Issue Submissions and Social Media Content creation.
  • The Submissions Compiler will facilitate your review and editing of Submissions. Your decision will look something like this: yes/no/maybe, followed by a short feedback you provide.
  • In case of a ‘maybe’, or conflicting decision making between two or more editors, the Editor-in-Chief will step in and take the final decision.
  • You must have a basic understanding of using Excel sheets, Word documents and Google Docs.
  • As an editor, you’d also be required to understand the organization’s management and operations briefly, as you’d be the next line of authority right after Founder/EIC. 
  • Prior experience is preferable, not mandatory.
  • Coordinate closely with the EIC, report progress, and actively participate in team discussions and meetings.
  • You may request training and intern role while filling out the application form!

SUBMISSIONS COMPILER (open to internship and training)

  • As submissions compiler, you will be required to carefully update contributor information in an Excel sheet.
  • You have to track the final decisions and place the submissions under different categories (for example - The Art by xyz under ‘Art Submissions’, etc).
  • As a submissions compiler, your eye for detail, work ethic, communication skills, accountability, responsible attitude and experience working with Excel sheets and links, will ensure a smooth data collection process plus communication between you and the Editor-in-Chief.
  • As a submissions compiler you would also maintain artist relations and be on lookout to curate a tone of voice for tajurba and those who fit the bill.
  • Coordinate closely with the EIC, report progress, and actively participate in team discussions and meetings.
  • You may request training and intern role while filling out the application form!

PARTNERSHIP & OUTREACH LEAD

  • As a partnerships and outreach lead, your primary responsibility would be to get new stakeholders to Tajurba.
  • You would be on the lookout for potential partnership opportunities in terms of collaborations, events, sponsors, adverts, etc.
  • You would also create and maintain a list of potential partners and organizations we could work with and build an outreach pipeline.
  • Experience is preferred. 
  • Coordinate closely with the Founder, Advisor and Legal Team, report progress, and actively participate in team discussions and meetings.

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER (open to internship and training)

  • You may request training and intern role while filling out the application form!
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy to amplify zine awareness, engagement, and promotion across online and offline channels.
  • Plan and schedule social media content to maintain consistent branding, tone, and messaging that resonates with the zine's target audience and vision. 
  • Stay abreast of emerging industry trends, algorithms, and social media tools relevant to zine culture to optimize content strategy and maximize visibility.
  • Curate attention-catching content, including captions, posts, and creatives, aligning with the zine's aesthetic identity and captivating its audience.
  • Engage actively with followers through comments, messages, and interactions, fostering community dialogue and strengthening brand affinity.
  • Monitor social media analytics, track key performance indicators, and generate regular reports to assess campaign effectiveness and inform future strategies.
  • Manage online reviews and feedback across platforms to safeguard and enhance the zine's reputation.
  • Collaborate closely with the Graphic Designer and Head, Social Media & Design to ideate and implement innovative approaches for enhancing the zine's social media presence and engagement.
  • Expand communication and collaboration opportunities by engaging with relevant pages and communities. 
  • Drive attention and attract potential contributors during key events, issues and content creation periods. 
  • Oversee and manage all social media channels pertinent to the zine, including Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Linktree, Chill Subs, Pinterest, Slack and websites. 
  • Uphold ethical standards in social media management, ensuring content authenticity, respectfulness, and alignment with the zine's core values and policies. 
  • Work collaboratively with the editorial team, graphic designer, and Head to ensure social media content reflects the zine's creative vision and objectives.
  • Coordinate closely with the Head, report progress, and actively participate in team discussions and meetings.
  • Experience is preferred, not mandatory.  
  • Familiarity with SEO principles, keyword research and Google Analytics. 
  • Familiarity with zine and magazine industries.

THE ARTS

Since Art encompasses diverse traditional media, ranging from paintings, and sketches, to literature, graphic art, filmography and music, and since we are only starting with a new endeavour, there are currently only a few sub-roles under ‘The Arts’ (to be expanded in due course of time).

GRAPHIC DESIGNER (open to internship and training)

  • You may request training and intern role while filling out the application form!
  • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Head, Social Media & Design, to understand the zine's theme, tone, and aesthetic, and ensure designs align with ethical guidelines and the creative vision of the zine. 
  • Incorporate the zine's tone-of-voice, editorial guidelines and visual language into polished and creative deliverables. 
  • Develop original, engaging, and creative drafts and final designs for zine covers, layouts, internal pages, websites, and social media platforms.
  • Create logos, branding materials, and other visual assets that reflect the identity of the zine.
  • Ensure consistency in design across all zine elements and platforms.
  • Refine your designs from early drafts to finalized layouts, incorporate feedback from internal evaluations and comments along the way. 
  • Discuss and propose ideas for future online/offline events, workshops, collaborations, and other activities.
  • Work with the Social Media Manager and Head to curate content tailored to the platform, target audience, growth, and vision of the zine.
  • Provide input and suggestions to enhance the design and creative expression of the zine.
  • Coordinate closely with the Head, report progress, and actively participate in team discussions and meetings.
  • Experience is preferred, not mandatory. 
  • Familiarity with Canva, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design software.
  • Familiarity with working with zines, magazines, independent publications, or creative projects.

PHOTOGRAPHER

  • You will be required to contribute to the Main Issue submissions, General Issue Submissions and Social Media Content creation.
  • There are high chances that your submission might be selected for the cover photo of Main Issues or General Submission Issues. 

THE MODERN PICASSO

  • You are encouraged to allow your creative juices flow onto pages of watercolour sheets or digital screens (not limited to any medium). 
  • You will be required to contribute to the Main Issue submissions, General Issue Submissions and Social Media Content creation.
  • There are high chances that your submission might be selected for the cover photo.

STAFF WRITER (open to internship and training)

  • As the staff writer, you will be contributing your works in the form of poetry, prose and other formats (ones that you are familiar with). 
  • You will be required to contribute to the Main Issue submissions, General Issue Submissions and Social Media Content creation. 
  • You may request training and intern role while filling out the application form!

HUMAN RESOURCES (open to internship and training)

  • Managing internal communication for Tajurba - sending emails, responding to emails and more. 
  • Handling hiring procedures with the Founder and Team Advisor. 
  • Collaborating with the Legal Team and ensuring workspace safety and ethical management.
  • Handling onboarding and offboarding procedures. 
  • Experience is preferred.
  • Coordinate closely with the Founder, Advisor and Legal Team, report progress, and actively participate in team discussions and meetings. 
  • You may request training and intern role while filling out the application form!
